BHI 2025 call for Special Sessions
Deadline for proposal submission: June 13, 2025
The IEEE International Conference on Biomedical and Health Informatics (BHI) is the flagship conference of IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society on the topics of informatics and computing in healthcare and life sciences. The theme of the BHI 2025 is “Precision Health: AI Tailored to Individuals”.
BHI 2025 will demonstrate the deployment of BHI informatics solutions that integrate key technologies including machine learning, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), robots, mHealth, e-Health, human computer interface, telemedicine, bioinformatics, sensors, imaging, foundation models, and public health monitoring, to achieve patient-centric and outcome-driven effective healthcare.
BHI 2025 focuses on the following categories: AI in Precision and Predictive Health, AI in Wellness and Preventative Care, Biomarker Discovery and Drug Design, Causal Inference for Biomedicine, Cognitive Automation in Health and Medicine, Cybersecurity and Privacy Preservation, Data Harmonization and Quality Control, Ethical and Regulatory Issues in Biomedical AI, Explainable AI for Decision Support, Generative AI and Foundational Models for Biomedicine, Multimodality Data Analysis, Pervasive Computing for Wearables, Robotic Surgery and Interventions, Single-cell and spatial genomics, Biomedical digital twins, Personalized AI Models, and Metaverse, Augmented and Intelligent Reality.

Proposals for Special Sessions
Special sessions within BHI 2025 will feature invited talks from leading researchers covering recent progresses on a specialized topic in multi-disciplinary and cross-disciplinary areas of health informatics, life sciences, health care, clinical applications, behavioral informatics, health data analytics and health informatics education. Non-technical talks on topics such as research funding, entrepreneurship, or technology transfer may also be included.
Special sessions offer a unique opportunity for researchers to share their work in a focused and collaborative environment. One of the key advantages of participating in a special session at BHI2025 is the ability to deliver a full-length (15-minute) oral presentation without the requirement of submitting a full conference paper, only a 1-page extended abstract. Special sessions are designed to foster deeper engagement and more meaningful discussions among researchers working on related topics. By bringing together experts in a specific area, these sessions create an ideal platform for exchanging ideas, exploring emerging challenges, and identifying potential collaborations. Whether you are presenting novel findings, ongoing work, or thought-provoking concepts, special sessions provide visibility and feedback from a targeted audience with shared interests—an excellent opportunity for both early-career and established researchers to refine their work and expand their professional network.
A typical Special Session will feature 6 invited talks, or 4-5 talks followed by a panel discussion. All submissions of invited talks in special sessions will be required to follow the 1-page paper format and will not be included in the IEEE Xplore Conference Proceedings. There is no requirement for full-length paper submission, but authors interested in publishing their paper in the Conference Proceedings may submit, in addition to their 1-page paper, an 8-page paper, following the corresponding guidelines and deadline for full-length paper submission.
